A day at work

I've been working at the V&D for about a month now. The V&D is like a shopping mall, only a little bit smaller. Things I learned from working there: I am a terrible, horrible gift wrapper. It is true. I am. And what is the WORST floor to work at when being a terrible gift wrapper? Exactly, the toy department. All the toys are huge, and I always get too little wrapping-paper. My worst case was with a toaster (I know, that is not a toy) The sixt time I got the right amount of wrapping-paper, all the other five times it was too small and therefore didn't fit. The guy that bought the toaster was not very happy with it and decided to wrap it himself and asked for wrapping-paper. The first time was too small again.
The toys that I stumble upon are also horribly shaped. There is not 1 toy that is square and easy to pack. Only the puzzles, but those aren't sold very often. Even when it is square-shaped I suck at gift wrapping. I suppose it is another one of my super duper handy talents I own.

Another floor you absolutely do not want to work at as a clumsy-sucky-gift-wrapper is the tableware department. Why not? Well, because literally e-ve-ry-thing on that floor can fall and break into a bazillion pieces. It is bound to happen one day, and I warn my boss, it is going to cost you (or me)(probably me)(dammit)
On top of that, tableware is deadly to pack. It is mission impossible, I tell you. I am yelling at the wrapping paper, telling it to hug the gift, but it is fighting me like a warrior. After I have finally conviced the wrapping paper, I already have another battle waiting for me, and that is the tape versus the gift wrapper. Instead of sticking to the wrapping paper, it sticks to my fingers. You do not belong there, amigo. Go away, stick your body to the paper.

Meanwhile, the customers are waiting and either laughing at me or getting angry because their gift looks horrible.

When the tape is finally on the paper and of my fingers, I have already thought about how I am going to fit this gift into a bag. Because of all the impossible shapes things have these days, it is quite difficult to fit it into a bag. That is another struggle I have to face in front of the loyal customer (who is waiting for about 10 minutes now)

Sometimes I forget to get of the price sticker. Gosh, I am not the smartest gift wrapper the V&D has. Oh well, at least the customer has a little entertaiment. I am glad I could help with that.

So, if you are looking for some entertaiment, go to the V&D, get the craziest shaped toy you can find. Get some tableware and some pillows (I just LOVE checking out pillows) Ask me to gift-wrap it all apart but you would like the cup and saucer wrapped together (that is my favorite) To end it all, you would like to know the pricing off the bed sheets and if you can get a discount. You probably won't and the bed sheets are very expensive so, after you have talked about it with your friend for about 3 minutes, you decide you don't want it. That would be my heaven on earth, that would just make my day!
